Who Is a Candidate for Labiaplasty and Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Labiaplasty can help treat various physical and aesthetic concerns for women, depending on the unique needs of the individual. Generally, ideal candidates for labiaplasty should be in good overall health with no plans for future pregnancies and who may be experiencing:

  • Elongated, enlarged, stretched, and/or irregularly shaped labia tissues
  • Irritation, itching, or chafing in the labia area
  • Pinching or discomfort from twisting or tugging of excess labial tissue
  • Tenderness, pain, or sexual dysfunction during intercourse
  • Hygiene issues and/or frequent urinary tract or yeast infections from bacteria buildup
  • Visible labia bulges in leggings, undergarments, swimsuit bottoms, and form-fitting clothing
  • Asymmetrical appearance in the labia area

In addition to labiaplasty, a procedure such as vaginoplasty to tighten the muscles and walls of the vaginal canal is also available for patients who have concerns more suitable to that treatment option. During a consultation, Dr. Miller will evaluate your medical history and discuss the specifics of your condition to develop a customized treatment plan. Dr. Miller will use this time to discuss safety, risks, and reasonable expectations of the labiaplasty procedure or other vaginal rejuvenation procedures so there is full transparency in terms of the results that may be achieved.

What Does the Labiaplasty Procedure Involve?

There are several surgical approaches that can be used to perform labiaplasty, including the “wedge” and “trim” techniques. The wedge method removes a triangular piece of tissue from the labia and then connects the two edges, while the trim method eliminates excess tissue from along the outside edge of the labia. Dr. Miller determines her surgical plan based on the anatomy, concerns, and goals of each patient. Overall, labiaplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure with anesthesia and usually lasts approximately one to two hours. Labiaplasty may be performed as a standalone procedure or as part of a mommy makeover for a more comprehensive treatment plan.

What Can I Expect During Recovery from Labiaplasty?

Following surgery, patients can expect mild tenderness, swelling, discomfort, and bruising in the treatment area, which can be well-managed with prescribed oral pain medication. Dr. Miller will provide detailed post-care instructions to guide you through recovery, but patients should generally plan to resume work and normal activities within approximately one week. Additionally, patients are typically advised to refrain from sexual intercourse and the use of tampons for at least six weeks.

How Much Does Labiaplasty Cost?

The cost of labiaplasty at our practice typically starts at approximately $5,000; however, this is a general estimate and the exact cost will be determined based on the patient’s unique treatment plan. Some of the variables that contribute to the overall costs include the amount of tissue that is removed, complexities of the surgery, the surgeon’s fees, the type of anesthesia utilized, and other factors. After an initial consultation, our team will provide a total cost estimate and answer any questions you may have. Our practice offers financing through reputable third-party healthcare lenders to help eligible applicants receive treatment with affordable payment plans.
